REFERRAL AND RELOCATION ASSISTANCE

Developing a sense of community here starts before you arrive at Buckley Air Force Base. We recognize the efforts behind this transition and want to make sure you are satisfied with the details of your move. To obtain referral and relocation assistance, we encourage you to reach out for personalized services provided by the Military Housing Office (MHO) staff.

Buckley Air Force Base is located in Aurora Colorado where we experience all four seasons. Winters are cold.

HOUSING ALLOWANCES

Military members are entitled to various allowances to ensure the transition to a new location is as smooth and stress free as possible. If you have any questions about the allowance listed, please contact the MHO.

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)
Military members assigned to Buckley Air Force Base receive Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). The purpose of the BAH program is to provide housing allowances to service members based on median housing costs in local civilian markets. The DoD determines the correct housing allowance to enable members to afford suitable housing within a reasonable distance of their duty location. The allowance is set based on geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependent status and is adjusted each year.

For more information about your BAH, visit the Defense Travel Management Office website.

RESTRICTIONS

Residents are not allowed to collect waste engine oils, engine coolants, car grease, and similar products, and other hazardous items such as paint thinners, cleaning products, tires, gas, etc., must be disposed of properly.

The government furnishes vacuums, refrigerators, microwaves and ovens. Ensure oven is turned off before leaving the kitchen. These appliances are assigned to your room by serial number; do not remove them from your room without approval of the dormitory manager. Do not store items on your stove due to fire hazards.

A guest is anyone not assigned to the Buckley AFB dormitory. Guests are to be escorted at all times and are to leave the base when the sponsor retires for sleep. Sponsors are held accountable for their guest's behavior. Guests are not to sleep in the resident's room. Before the resident retires for sleep, the guest must be escorted off base. Residents are not allowed to cohabitate nor have other residents sleeping in their room. A parent or legal guardian must accompany guests under the age of 18 at all times.

Damages to quarters beyond normal wear and tear are your responsibility. Repairs or replacements must meet Air Force standards and receive approval from the dormitory manager. Your dormitory manager can fully explain your options to repair or replace damaged items and the method of payment.

The majority of the residents are shift workers. Quiet hours are 24/7. If there is a complaint, report it to the UH management during duty hours. The first step will be a verbal warning from the dormitory manager to the occupant being accused of excessive noise. The second step is notification sent to your commander or first sergeant. Please be considerate!

Only personnel who are age 21 or older are allowed to drink in the dormitory. Members will refrain from providing alcohol to members under age 21 years. Those under 21 years of age (minors) that consume alcohol and members over 21 years of age who provide alcohol to minors are subject to administrative and/or punitive punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) for violation of this duty. Alcohol consumption should be limited to personal space (i.e., away from common areas) and placement/storage of alcohol must be away from access by those under the age of 21.
