Thule AB Referral and Relocation

Developing a sense of community here starts before you arrive at Thule AFB. We recognize the efforts behind this transition and want to make sure you are satisfied with the details of your move. To obtain Referral and Relocation Assistance, we encourage you to reach out for personalized services provided by the Military Housing Office(MHO) staff.

You're about to embark on your most rewarding Air Force tour. Here you'll find a community of American, Canadian, Danish, and Greenlandic people who are committed to providing combat capabilities through missile warning, missile defense, space surveillance, and satellite command and control...all built on our "TEAM THULE" attitude.

Planning Your Move
Moving to an overseas location requires additional planning to make sure you are prepared for the transition. There are many things you can do before you arrive to ensure the process to get settled in your new home and community is seamless.

Prior to arrival, do not make any changes to stateside bank accounts and ensure you have access to all pertinent account information. There is no bank in Greenland. For cash purposes, you can obtain money at the club or BX through your debit card. Checks can also be written at the Enlisted Club with a $300 cap.

Cellular phone service is available with international rates. All major carriers are provided and text messaging is available. Please make sure you review your plan and understand potential costs prior to signing any contracts as prices do vary from CONUS locations.

Since Thule is an unaccompanied tour, the MHO provides appliances and furnishings to support your move. Contact the MHO for more details so you can plan ahead for shipping and/or storage of your personal items.

Driver's License
For this assignment, personnel will need to have a valid United States driver's license.

Power Requirements
The electrical current in Thule is the same as the United States (110 volts and 60 cycles). All items sold purchased in the local Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) store has standard electrical currents. More information on products for each location can be found on the AAFES website.

Additional Questions
If you have any questions or require additional support, please contact the MHO for more information about preparing for your move to this location.

Military members stationed at Thule may be entitled to Hardship Duty Pay.  This allowance is granted to personnel stationed in locations with Arctic conditions to ensure the transition is as smooth and stress free as possible.
