Planning Your Move
Moving to an overseas location requires additional planning to make sure you are prepared for the transition. There are many things you can do before you arrive to ensure the process to get settled in your new home and community is seamless.
Prior to arrival, do not make any changes to stateside bank accounts and ensure you have access to all pertinent account information. There is no bank in Greenland. For cash purposes, you can obtain money at the club or BX through your debit card. Checks can also be written at the Enlisted Club with a $300 cap.
Cellular phone service is available with international rates. All major carriers are provided and text messaging is available. Please make sure you review your plan and understand potential costs prior to signing any contracts as prices do vary from CONUS locations.
Since Thule is an unaccompanied tour, the MHO provides appliances and furnishings to support your move. Contact the MHO for more details so you can plan ahead for shipping and/or storage of your personal items.
Driver's License
For this assignment, personnel will need to have a valid United States driver's license.
