Furnishings Management

Welcome to Yokota AB! We hope your tour will be enjoyable and rewarding. We are prepared to deliver and set up all the furniture you will need until your household shipment arrives. Furniture and appliances at this location have been specifically chosen to fit comfortably in each type of housing unit on base.

Planning Your Move to Yokota with Furniture Entitlements
Personnel moving to Yokota AB on an accompanied tour (with family members on orders) are authorized to ship their full weight allowance. This is called Full-JTR (Joint Travel Regulation). If you are single or plan to move to Yokota AB without your family (unaccompanied tour) and are a SSgt and above or an Officer, the full weight allowance also applies.

Knowing that you are entitled to Full-JTR is important. With this entitlement, government furniture support is on a loaner basis only. The government is responsible for providing you with sufficient furniture items to allow you to move into housing while waiting for your household goods. Loaner kits consist of living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture. When you are ready to move again, the same loaner kits are available to allow you to ship your household goods in plenty of time to meet you at your next destination. The Furnishings Management Office (FMO) will provide appliances for your entire tour.

Members will be issued authorized furnishings to meet local housing conditions and family composition. While every attempt is made to meet a member's preference, furnishing style and color cannot be guaranteed. Furnishings are issued based on availability in the warehouse when the request is processed. See your local transportation Management Office (TMO) for your entitlements as they vary with grade.

Storage
Housing styles and sizes are often different in foreign locations. In some cases, not all personal furniture will fit in on-base or off-base housing. Members should note room dimensions for housing units to which they are entitled (based on bedroom authorization and category) before deciding which personal household goods to ship. Temporary storage facilities are not available on Yokota. Yokota FMO and TMO will brief members about their entitlements and how to set up delivery of temporary and permanent furnishings upon arrival.

Major Appliances
Military and DOD civilians are not authorized to ship personally owned major appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, washers, and dryers. FMO will provide these appliances. In most cases, U.S. major appliances will not work in oversea locations; therefore, major appliances are permanently assigned to each on-base housing unit.

Temporary Furniture Loaner Kits
Temporary furniture loaner kits are available to members in PCS status for up to 90 days after arrival and 90 days before departure. Loaner kits consist of furniture items that enable you to move into your new housing while awaiting the delivery of household goods. FMO will provide additional information when you secure local housing.
