REFERRAL AND RELOCATION ASSISTANCE

Developing a sense of community here starts before you arrive at Joint Base Andrews. We recognize the efforts behind this transition and want to make sure you are satisfied with the details of your move. To obtain referral and relocation assistance, we encourage you to reach out for personalized services provided by the Military Housing Office (MHO) staff. 

Contact the MHO as soon as you know you are moving. The housing management team will provide you the latest information on the local housing situation and offer complete referral services and relocation assistance to make sure you find a quality place to live.

Support services include assisting members with locating quality, affordable housing, understanding their lease agreement, necessity for military release clause in the lease agreement, landlord/tenant dispute resolution and many others. 

The MHO partners with landlords, realtors and property managers to make sure you receive the most current information about the local housing market. Housing On-line Military Enterprise System (HOMES.mil), a joint service, DoD-sponsored website offers a 24/7/365 single source of available housing to incoming military personnel and their families. Go to HOMES.mil and create a personal account to view the available housing and get a feel for the size, style and type of housing around your new installation. The listings provide contact information for the landlord or property manager so you can connect with them to discuss available units. Contact the MHO prior to making any firm commitments. 
NOTE: You are highly encouraged to visit the government Military Housing Office before entering into any lease agreement.

HOUSING ALLOWANCES

Military members are entitled to various allowances to ensure the transition to a new location is as smooth and stress free as possible. If you have any questions about the allowance listed, please contact the MHO. 

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)
Military members assigned to Joint Base Andrews receive Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). The purpose of the BAH program is to provide housing allowances to service members based on median housing costs in local civilian markets. The DoD determines the correct housing allowance to enable members to afford suitable housing within a reasonable distance of their duty location. The allowance is set based on geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependent status and is adjusted each year.
